Today is a special day for me. It is exactly 22 years since I was diagnosed with leukemia and essentially told, “get treatment or die.” It took 26 months to get through the entire chemotherapy regimen. By the grace of God, I made it through alive and I have never had a relapse. Whoo-hoo!!!!
If you know my story, than you know that exercise helped turn my life around. Before I began to exercise, I was getting weaker and weaker, sicker and sicker, and fatter and fatter. Then, 10 months into treatment, the light bulb went off and I realized- I have to do something!
Within 22 months of exercising, I had lost 80 pounds of body fat, put on 40 pounds of muscle, beat the cancer and could physically do almost anything I wanted. It truly helped save my life. After this transformation, I became hooked on the game of using tools like exercise to create a stronger, fitter and healthier body. This eventually led to me choosing my profession and starting my business. It’s a miracle how all these “bad” things have worked together for my good!
Now of course, I’m not the only one who can say that exercise helped save their life. In fact, just recently I heard about a woman in Rochester New York whose life was saved by exercise in the most unusual way.
82 year old Willie Murphy was home alone one afternoon when I man broke in through her front door. The man was 28 years old. In most cases, this would probably be an easy crime to commit- break in, overpower the weak and defenseless elderly woman, take and do what you want, and leave.
Well…that’s not what happened at Willie’s house that afternoon.
You see, Willie is an award winning body builder and even at 82 years of age she still works out nearly everyday. As you’ll see in the video, she’s even got the “guns” to prove it. Willie proceeded to fight off her attacker, break a table over him, knock him unconscious, jump on him, beat him with a broom and have him arrested. Willie is my new favorite superhero.
I GUARANTEE you that you will want to send this article and video to at least 10 people after you see it. Click the link below to check it out-
If that’s not inspiration to work out, I don’t know what is!
