As you probably know, your immune system is extremely complex in its structure and in its function. Because of this complexity, there are many things that could go wrong with it, some of which are very preventable.
Throughout the entirety of the past two years, we’ve heard a lot about social distancing, masks and vaccines but very little about how to effectively take care of our immune system. Now, of course, you’ve probably heard people here and there pointing out the importance of Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Zinc and other “immune boosters”, but in my opinion there aren’t enough voices warning people about the “immune suppressors.”
This is why I was so pleased to see CNBC recently publish an article written by a Functional Medicine Immunologist who stated that “sugar is the worst food ingredient for your immune system.” In the article she states why scientific data suggest this, and what physiological changes can occur within your immune system when you consume too much sugar. It is definitely worth the read. And don’t worry, as a former sugar addict I can tell you, there is hope!
